Your partner in health today, tomorrow, and for life.
On Thursday, October 17, we gathered to recognize the vital role Minnie Hamilton Health System (MHHS) plays in the communities we serve and to celebrate the vision for its future, known as the MHHS of Tomorrow. The event featured several important speakers, including healthcare leaders and local officials, who highlighted the significance of MHHS in providing essential services to rural populations and the exciting future ahead. Minnie Hamilton is now embarking on a significant multi-phase renovation project to modernize and expand its facilities, ensuring continued excellence in healthcare delivery.
Phase 1: Infrastructure Upgrades Completed
The first phase of the project, which involved critical upgrades to the water and sanitary lines, was successfully completed in the summer of 2024. This phase addressed pressing infrastructure concerns in the aging building, ensuring that the facility can continue to provide safe, reliable healthcare services for years to come.
Phase 2: New Clinic and Lab Coming Soon
Scheduled to begin in December 2024, Phase 2 marks a transformative step for MHHS. It includes the construction of approximately 28,000 square feet of new space that will house a state-of-the-art laboratory, a new rural health clinic, and the shell of a new dietary space and specialty clinic. A new rooftop helipad will also be added, along with electrical upgrades to the existing facility and a new emergency power generator. This phase ensures that Minnie Hamilton will continue to be equipped to meet the evolving needs of the community, with more modern and efficient facilities.
Phases 3 and 4: Expanding Services and Emergency Care
Phases 3 and 4, slated to begin upon the completion of Phase 2, will further enhance MHHS’s ability to serve patients. These phases include renovations to outpatient therapy spaces, the first phase of an expanded Emergency Department, and improvements to pharmacy, radiology, and central supply areas. The Emergency Department expansion is especially crucial, as it will allow MHHS to better handle the growing volume of patients they see weekly. Once completed, the facility will feature modern acute care units, upgraded electrical systems, and improved flooring throughout the main building.
The final phase will see the completion of the Emergency Department’s second phase and the remaining outpatient spaces. Additionally, the project will culminate with enhanced exterior landscaping and paving, ensuring that MHHS not only functions efficiently on the inside but also presents a welcoming and accessible environment for patients and visitors.
A $38.3 Million Investment in the Future of Healthcare
The total estimated cost of the project is $38.3 million, spread across four phases:
1. Phase 1: Water and sewer line infrastructure replacement
2. Phase 2: New construction of approximately 28,000 square feet for clinic, lab, dental clinic, dietary space, and administrative offices, with a new rooftop helipad and emergency generator
3. Phase 3: Renovation of pharmacy, outpatient services, Emergency Department expansion, radiology, central supply, and completion of acute care renovations
4. Phase 4: Final expansion of Emergency Department, outpatient spaces, flooring replacement, electrical upgrades, landscaping, and paving
As Minnie Hamilton Health System looks to the future, this renovation project is a testament to its ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare to our community. The MHHS of Tomorrow will provide enhanced medical services in a modern, efficient, and accessible facility, ensuring that patients receive the best care possible for years to come.
We are proud to celebrate this milestone and excited for the improvements that are yet to come, all with the goal of keeping our community healthy and thriving.
